About
Built for a group nobody was serving.
There are dozens of cycle apps. Not one accounts for what a period means for your prayer, your ghusl and your fasting days. That's not a small group — millions of women in Europe alone — and it simply went unaddressed.
Why this app exists
Mensis started with a simple observation: Muslim women use the same cycle apps as everyone else, and keep their hayd, ghusl and missed fasting days separately in a notes app, on paper, or in their head. That works, right up until Ramadan when you're trying to reconstruct how many days you still owed.
At the same time we watched how the existing apps handle data. One large player settled with the American regulator in 2021 after health data ended up with advertising parties. Others fine-tune their own models on what users log. In a cycle app you're dealing with the most sensitive data a person has: their health and, in our case, their faith as well.
So we're building it differently. The whole chain in Europe. No trackers. No training on user data. And where we can't meet a standard, we write that down instead of glossing over it — that page about what we don't promise isn't modesty, it's the core of how we intend to work.
What we hold ourselves to
No claim we can't demonstrate
“End-to-end encrypted” appears nowhere in our copy, because it isn't true. A false privacy claim is worse than no claim.
Free stays free
A feature that was ever free never becomes paid here. We put that in the terms, where it means something.
No dark patterns
No hidden cancel button, no trial quietly rolling over, no subscription outside the stores.
Fiqh before features
The deen module goes past a qualified reviewer before we build. A mistake there damages exactly the trust this app runs on.
Contact
We're a small team and answer everything ourselves, in Dutch or English.
