What menopause does to your cycle
Menopause does not start on one day. It is the period in which your cycle becomes irregular, and that can take years.
Around what age
Most women reach menopause between 45 and 55. For some it happens before 40, which is called premature menopause and is worth discussing with a doctor.
When it is over
Menopause is your final period, and you only know afterwards: it counts as such once you have gone twelve consecutive months without one. The years before that are the perimenopause, and they can last several years.
Why a predicted date stops working
When your cycle length swings from month to month, a single predicted day is false certainty. A window based on your own measured spread says more, and any bleeding after menopause is a reason to call your doctor.
